Flat Stanley is the main character of a research project conducted by children all over the country. These grade-schoolers make their own versions FS & send him in an envelope to someone around the world. Recipients keep FS occupied for a few days, taking photos of him in various local places; they then send the materials back to the children, who get to learn about another place.
Apparently, FS went to Pittsburgh one weekend a few years ago and became a Steelers fan.

Flat Stanley is a fascinating and effective research method for children but the terrible towell? Shameless plug for the Super Bowl Champions perhaps or did Flat Stanley choose the terrible towell as a backdrop to pay homage to the spirit of a city as embodied by a football team that captured an unprecedented sixth championship? I wonder.
